Race Unity Day 2011

Race Unity Day 2011 will be held on Sunday 13th March at Victory Square Park

Race Unity Day is an opportunity to affirm all our different languages, beliefs and cultures and our common belonging to a unique and diverse nation. Nelson Multicultural Council celebrates this important day with a huge outdoor celebration at Victory Square Park, beginning with a welcome to international students by the mayors of Nelson and Tasman and continuing with cultural performance throughout the day.
There is a relaxed festive atmosphere with activities for the children and lots of yummy ethnic food on sale. Many community organizations take the opportunity to set up information stands so that they can explain their services.

People of all cultures are invited to participate through

  • Performance
  • Traditional food
  • Traditional art
  • Dressing in your traditional clothing
  • Simply attending and enjoying the day!
